John Arthur Kelly is a freelance cinematographer and camera operator based out of New York City. His work has screened in festivals and living rooms alike, around the world and across the United States.

No stranger to new formats, John has shot projects of all sizes with many different cameras. Grounded in basics, it's his firm belief in "story comes first" that helps translate concepts to the screen, big or small. No matter the camera, every film is a learning experience and a new opportunity to speak the common visual language.

Coming from a background in science and philosophy, John is comfortable in and technically adept at manipulating light and movement to communicate with an audience. "The time the audience spends with the film is our great privilege." Whether building a custom piece of equipment in a borrowed machine shop or putting in the extra hours on set, John is a talented and enthusiastic filmmaker.
